Pastor Lutz received his elementary education in the mission school at Kodaikanal, India. Coming to the United States in 1942, he attended Saint John's College, Winfield, Kansas, and Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, Missouri, where he graduated in 1954. His vicarage (internship) was served at Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. After his graduation from the seminary, Pastor Lutz was ordained and installed as the first pastor of Zion Lutheran Church at Atikokan, Ontario. Lois' home church was St. Paul's Lutheran in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She graduated from the first Lutheran High School in Detroit and from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska. She then taught in Duluth. Rev. Lutz and Lois were married in 1956. They have six children: Audrey, Emilie, Rachel, Renata, Jonathan, and Anita. In 1958 Pastor Lutz accepted a call to the pastorate of Saint James Lutheran Church, Archbold, Ohio. Four years later he was called by the Minnesota South District to start a new congregation in Rochester, Minnesota. During his ministry in Rochester he served four years as Counselor of the Rochester Circuit. After 13 years in Rochester, Pastor Lutz accepted the call to serve at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, Iowa. In 1980 St. Matthew Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Minnesota, called Pastor Lutz to serve them. For six years while at St. Charles, he served on the Mission Administration Committee of the Minnesota South District, helping to plan and start new mission congregations. Pastor Lutz took semi-retirement in 1990 to serve Trinity, Henderson, KY for 3 years. When he fully retired, he and Lois moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he continues to help out in area churches with preaching. At Concordia he helps Pastor Peters with Sunday services and with pastoral calls. Mrs. Lutz serves as the Executive Director of Camp Cedarbrook, a Lutheran
Camp in southern Indiana. |
