Pastor Curtis Peters

Rev. Curtis H. Peters
 

Pastor Curtis Peters was born and grew up in rural Southwestern Minnesota. His father, Earl, was a gasoline distributor in Slayton until he died in 1959. His mother, Dolores, was a homemaker and recently died in 2003. Both parents were extremely active in Trinity Lutheran Church.

After graduating from high school, Curt attended Valparaiso University for two years. It was while singing in Chapel Choir there that he met Pam, who would later become his wife. Pam was a student in the deaconess program at Valpo. In 1964 Curt graduated  from  Concordia  Senior  College, Ft. Wayne, and then studied at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, from which he graduated in 1969. He also did graduate work in philosophy at Washington University, St. Louis, where he received an M.A. and a Ph.D. In addition, he spent one year studying at Heidelberg University in Germany.

Pastor Peters taught at Concordia Senior College for 7 years preparing young men to go on to the seminary and into the ministry. In 1976, he began teaching philosophy at Indiana University Southeast, New Albany, Indiana. For 9 years at IUS, he served as Dean of Humanities; he is currently Professor of Philosophy there. Prior to accepting the call to Concordia Lutheran Church, he was on the pastoral staff at Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany, Indiana, for 19 years.

In 1965 Curt married Pam Zimmermann, a pastor's daughter. Their marriage has been blessed with two daughters, Stephanie & Evy, and a son Luther. Their children live in Sandstone, MN, Milton, FL, and Indianapolis, IN, respectively. Curt enjoys sports, outdoor activities, music, building, and traveling. In the field of philosophy his research and writing focuses on Kant. Pam is a retired a legal secretary who has been an organist and music director at two churches. She enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, and reading. She does research and writing on the Underground Railroad and Black History in Southern Indiana. Both Pastor and Pam enjoy being grandparents.
