CONCORDIA'S YOUTH GROUP

The primary focus of Concordia’s youth is on the study of God’s Word. Every Sunday morning at 9:00 the youth meet in the youth room for study and discussion under the guidance of  Emily Fraiser and Nick Garber. It is a great class!

Concordia’s Youth Group is very active. They regularly go ice-skating, bowling, hiking, biking, skiing, roller-skating, touring "haunted houses", seeing movies, playing ping-pong, canoeing, going out to eat, playing cards, watching ball games, going to a play at Actors Theater, or.....well, you get the point. Most activities are open to youth in grades seven through twelve.

One of the year’s highlights is the summer trip. For three summers the group has made an 11-day trip into the high mountains west of Boulder, Colorado. We stay in cabins in a beautiful valley and go hiking, climbing, rafting, horseback riding, and the like. The group has a great talent show at the end of the stay. One day was service-project day as the group made repairs at the cabins. For several years the group went to the North Carolina shore and they have gone to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans and to Pensacola, Florida. This year the youth will go to the Higher Things Conference in Atlanta, GA.  This annual trip is open to member youth from confirmation through high school.

Upcoming Events:

ð. The youth Christmas get-together will be Saturday, December 2. Youth are to meet at church at 3 PM and take the van to Bashford Manor and to go Christmas shopping for those less fortunate. Afterwards they will go out for pizza. After pizza they will go to Mike and Whitney Neal’s home for fellowship and wrapping of the gifts. We plan to be back at church around 9:00. Youth only need to bring what money they can for the purchase of gifts. Dinner will be paid for.

Future Events:

The youth have their own room with table, chairs, and sofas, a large-screen TV, stereo and a kitchenette. They have their Bible studies right "at home".

The youth now have a game room with a pool table. They have also have a ping-pong table and an electronic dartboard. This is a special area for our youth to kick back and enjoy themselves.
