CONCORDIA'S YOUTH GROUP
The primary focus of Concordia’s youth is on the study of God’s Word. Every Sunday morning at 9:00 the youth meet in the youth room for study and discussion under the guidance of Vince Roehrig and Aaron Silletto or Edie Sommer. It is a great class! Concordia’s Youth Group is very active. They regularly go ice-skating, bowling, hiking, biking, skiing, roller-skating, touring "haunted houses", seeing movies, playing ping-pong, canoeing, going out to eat, playing cards, watching ball games, going to a play at Actors Theater, or.....well, you get the point. Most activities are open to youth in grades seven through twelve. One of the year’s highlights is the summer trip. For three summers the group has made an 11-day trip into the high mountains west of Boulder, Colorado. We stay in cabins in a beautiful valley and go hiking, climbing, rafting, horseback riding, and the like. The group has a great talent show at the end of the stay. One day was service-project day as the group made repairs at the cabins. For several years the group went to the North Carolina shore and they have gone to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans and to Pensacola, Florida. This year the youth will go to a member's lake home in Western Kentucky to enjoy water activities and a service project in the area. This annual trip is open to member youth from confirmation through high school.
The Senior Youth Group summer trip may be to St. Louis leaving on Monday, July 7, and returning Saturday, July 12. Some activities will be the Arch, Six Flags, Grant’s Farm, zoo & Forest Park, Seminary, and more. The cost is $100. Opportunities to earn $25 toward the cost are: helping with the fellowship meal on Sunday, May 4, and helping with VBS at Concordia, Resurrection, and/or Risen Lord. Upcoming Events: Future Events ð Ping-Pong Tourney ð Bowling
The youth have their own room with table, chairs, and sofas, a large-screen TV, stereo and a kitchenette. They have their Bible studies right "at home". The youth now have a game room with a pool table. They have also have a ping-pong table and an electronic dartboard. This is a special area for our youth to kick back and enjoy themselves.
